‘Author, critic and business writer’ is what Vikram Roy uses as his signature after introducing himself in the ‘About me’ section of his blog that he fondly refers to as a philosophy blog. He goes a step further by speaking about the essence of this blog which essentially revolves around science, arts and literature. Now, one would have ideally come across a sea of people on the blogosphere who have done a lot of work pertaining to writing on these subjects. What distinguishes Vikram are a bevy of accolades that he has lapped up and the level of engagement he has with his readers. Part of it comes from the success of his Amazon bestseller, “The Alchemist A mystery in three acts”.

For a first time visitor of the blog, it most definitely strikes as a forum rich in content; fine arts and philosophy blends effortlessly in his posts that touches the reader in subtle ways. Aesthetically, the posts are well laid out and most posts are assisted by carefully adjusted and artful pictures, a visual supplement to aid the reading pleasure, so to speak.

There are tabs on the page that are clearly demarcated in the header. One of these topics also highlights his reviews for films that he wrote for ‘IMDb’, a popular portal that houses reviews and rankings of world movies. The other key segment/tab is exclusively dedicated to his playwright venture, ‘The Alchemist’ that lets the reader form an opinion basis the description and other relevant details one goes through before picking up a book off the racks.

A free thinking and philosophical blog such as this warrants recognition and hence we deem it absolutely critical to feature Vikram Roy as our Bloggerati of the Fortnight.

Bloggerati of the Fortnight: Rhea Purnita Paine

clip_image002There are bloggers who try to do too many things and destroy their blog. Then there are bloggers who are so specific and niche that until they talk about matters you follow closely, you wouldn’t want to return to them. A good blog is one that can balance the need to be refreshing without doing too much. One such blog, Rheality Rings by Rhea Purnita Paine, is a classic example of a blog that reinvents itself with every post without losing its character.

Part rebel, part child, Rhea is a brilliant writer, photographer, doodler, sketcher and dreamer at large. Her interests are simply stated as ‘Living’ and live she does. It is for this reason that her blog also comes across alive. While you go through her pages, you feel a sense of life in each post. Be it the photo tour of India in ‘India on the move’ or the sketches in her ‘Arty Farty’ section, they all breath and come across with their individual stories.

It makes for a compelling reading. What it also does is makes you want to experience the thing you read about, yourself. And that is the true sign of a great blog. While you see the pictures from the gallery simply stated as ‘On way from the airport to Nandi Hills on a bike’ you would actually want to take that journey. The photographs are so alluring, it is impossible to escape the desire to experience the ride yourself.

Empty Ness
Vanessa do you know
they sold you an empty glass for a muse
An ashtray full of ruse
A pipe gone obtuse
Thought you’d be amused.
Instead you ended up used.
I knew her once
My Empty Ness of dreams
I knew her once
My Empty Ness in screams
I knew her once
My Empty Ness it seems

Even her writing is exemplary. The poems Rhea has penned are absolutely gripping. ‘Empty Ness’ is amongst one of her best written pieces. It tells a story that many would relate to, yet it brings out her experience in the simplest manner without losing the depth of the matter. Her command over the words make it that much more binding, compelling you to finish what you start reading. And that compels us to bestow the ‘Bloggerati of the Fortnight‘ title on her.

Bloggerati of the Fortnight: Paavani Bishnoi

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

She is a dreamer and a nature lover who is an industrial designer and into colors. She is also a Photographer, tweeter, trends spotter, toy & game designer but above all, a blogger par excellence. That is how our blogger of the fortnight, Paavani Bishnoi can be described.

A post graduate in Industrial Designer from National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad, India) and bachelors in Information Technology, Paavani is an avid blogger. Blogging since early 2003, Paavani loves exploring the unseen with camera lens and at times experimenting with edibles items in her kitchen and if there is a mood swing, she also indulges in instant poetry.

But what is amazing about her blog is that it covers a plethora of topics. Right from advertising and brands to designing and poetry. Not the one to shy away from anything, Paavani has gone on to give quite an in-depth review of technology products such as mobile phones and also written about category facts for Indian Potato chips market.

Not that people don’t write about these sectors, it is the fact that while she writes crystal clear analytic posts on such topics here travel posts are poetic and dreamy. “Spending two days at -15 degree in Finland was really freezing. But I liked Helsinki, it was warm in an unknown way.”

Paavani is the first to accept that she is not a poet by nature but more of instantaneous poet. She describes that her poems are born out of sudden connect with few words which she then weaves in to a flow and produces a master piece.

Like most bloggers, Paavani too is a clever photographer. Her images come across as true and genuine by themselves. They are like an artist’s inner most thoughts being projected to the world.

                         a-journey

It is the sheer brilliance of Paavani that her blog can narrate on so many topics with such ease and comfort that the reader feels he is being exposed to an expert’s opinion in every field that the blog touches upon. Not many can achieve this level of writing and for that Paavani Bhisnoi is our Bloggerati of the Fortnight.
