Avinash Kaushik is an entrepreneur, public speaker, author, digital marketing evangelist and a Blogger. He has done great works & simplified the complexity in the field of data analytics. He is the Digital Marketing Evangelist for Google and the Co-Founder and Chief Education Officer for Market Motive.

Author of two best-selling marketing books, Web Analytics 2.0, Web Analytics: An Hour A Day he is also termed as a true marketing guru who has inspired masses with his powerful speech & scientific approach of marketing analysis. He loves asking questions with an interest to learn new things.

Avinash started his blog Occam’s Razor on 14th May, 2006 as a Director of Research & Analytics at Intuit, Web Analytics Practitioner. With an aim to provide something relevant, incredible and of value to people, his posts reflected his interests in marketing, people, politics & design.

Occam’s Razor connects to him very deeply. He believes that everybody lives in an increasingly complex world trying to complicate things a way too much in trying to understand events, activities & happenings or maybe in this case web data. Occam’s Razor is always at the back of his mind because it reminds him that often one needs to simplify one’s thinking. The simpler the explanation the more likely it is better than a complex one. He recommends all those in the decision-making field that in order to truly understand complex sets of data one should apply the Occam’s Razor “smell test”.

Through his blog, Occam’s Razor, Avinash is now popularly known as the voice on how marketers, executive teams and industry leaders can leverage data to fundamentally reinvent their digital existence.

He admits that life is too small not to look out for exceptional things. According to him, the world is changing every minute and so his quest to search for ‘awesomeness is the reflection of the amount of reading he does on variety of topics.

Avinash hopes that through his blog he shares back with the world to the extent that he could the core area of expertise. He based his blogging on ‘think book not diary’ principle. One will always find his blog posts delivering new content, offering answers to a lot of questions and excellent analytic narratives.

He has categorized the blog into a few sections, namely, Digital Marketing, Digital Analytics, Practical Analysis, Qualitative Analysis, Competitive Intelligence Analysis, Excellent Analytics Tips Series, Web Metrics and Standard Metrics Revisited Series. The Grab bag section includes Life lessons, observations, advice, and a lot more.

In the blog he has tried to put a framework of common sense around the world of web analytics combining that with the philosophy that investing in talented analysts is the key to long-term success. He passionately advocates customer centricity & leveraging competitive intelligence techniques.

Avinash, has also received numerous reviews for bringing his inspiring & practical insights to companies like Unilever, Porsche, IBM, Dell and many more. He has given keynotes on Search Engine Strategies, Monaco Media Forum, Ad-Tech, JMP Innovators’ Summit and The Art of Marketing and web 2.0.

Acting has always been his passion. He has lectured at major universities like Stanford University, University of Virginia, University of California – Los Angeles and University of Utah. Avinash also received the 2009 Statistical Advocate of the Year award from the American Statistical Association, and the 2011 Most Influential Industry Contributor award from the Web Analytics Association.
